Emotional health, like intellectual health, is a part of our overall mental health. However, emotional health specifically focuses on our awareness of and ability to cope with both positive and negative emotions, as well as challenges that life may throw your way. Similar to intellectual health, one's emotional health is tied tightly to the other components.
Being "emotionally healthy" does not mean being happy all the time, in fact, it is far "healthier" for one to be able to identify, experience, and control their varying emotional responses. Therefore, emotional health can be better defined as a state of resiliance rather than any specific emotion itself.
Emotional health can be far more difficult to improve upon than an area like physical health, as there are no clear metrics or benchmarks to strive for. Moreover, everyone's path will look greatly different.
I will be posting my go-to practices for maintaining emotional health. But for now, here are some resources!
